COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS)
Chris Simpson Tops CCSDS Ron Jenkins Memorial Opener
*Holiday Weekend Swing Continues at Lucas Oil Speedway and Springfield Raceway *
WHEATLAND, Mo. (08/29/25) – Chris Simpson wired the Ron Jenkins Memorial opener with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) on Friday night to register the $7,000 victory at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.).
From the NewVisionCustomShirts.com Pole Position, Simpson paced all 30 laps for his first-career win with the series.
"I knew that bottom would be good, so I knew if I got a good start on Gordy (Gundaker) and he didn't beat me into (turn) one that I could kind of roll that bottom," Simpson said. "The part I was worried about was when I ran up on lapped traffic, if I could move out and get by those guys, otherwise that would bring Gordy right back to me."
Simpson enjoyed a dominant performance, taking the checkered flag 4.502 seconds in front of Gundaker with R.C. Whitell, Billy Moyer, and Jon Kirby rounding out the Top-5 finishers.
Kyle Beard was the MD3 Five Star Bodies Hard Charger after advancing from the 24th-starting spot to finish 13th.
On Saturday, August 30 the COMP Cams Super Late Models will battle it out in a $12,000-to-win feature with Mary Jenkins Holt again adding a $2,000 bonus to the winner and a $500 fast-time qualifier bonus. The Hickamo Super Stocks will race for a $750 top prize and Craig Danuser of Whitetail trophy hunt has put up an additional $250 bonus money to make it $1,000 to win for the Super Stocks. The Show Me Vintage Racers join the night’s action again.
The inaugural Rex McCroskey Memorial presented by Collins Property Management takes center stage on Sunday, August 31 at Springfield (Mo.) Raceway, and posts a $6,064 winner’s check for the CCSDS contingent. All Trailer Services B-Mods, Indigo Sky Casino Midwest Modz, Wheeler Metals Legends, Pepsi Pure Stocks, Guffey Services Heating & Cooling Mini Stock / FWD, and All Metal Recycling Bombers will all be in action.
On Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway, the pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. CT both days with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
On Sunday evening at Springfield Raceway the pit gate opens at 2 p.m. CT with the grandstands opening at 4 p.m., and on-track action at 4:30 p.m.
