Stevens Scores Louisiana State Championship Opener Win

GREENWOOD, La. (09/23/22) – Tyler Stevens picked up the richest win of his career earlier this year at Boothill Speedway with a $10,000 victory in the Ronny Adams Memorial. He found success again at the Louisiana oval on Friday night with a $6,000 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil victory in the opening round of the 50th annual Louisiana State Championship at Boothill Speedway.

The Arkansas traveler had to fend off a late-race charge from Logan Martin to bag the victory.

“We picked up the big race here the first of the year, and we come back and I’m just glad to park it in victory lane,” Stevens said. “We’ve been close, we’ve been good, we’ve just had bad luck and been working the kinks of the new car. I think we finally found a balance and I’m excited to go forward.”

NewVisionCustomShirts.com Pole Sitter, Morgan Bagley and Billy Moyer Jr. paced the field to the green with Moyer Jr. leading the opening two circuits before Stevens shot past for the lead.

Sixth-starting Logan Martin closed in late on Stevens, but couldn’t find a path past the leader as the Midwest Sheet Metal Rookie of the Year leader charged to his second win of the year.

Cade Dillard, Billy Moyer Jr., and Kyle Beard completed the Top-5 finishers.

Clayton Stuckey surged to M&M Paint & Construction Hard Charger honors for his 17th-to-ninth performance.

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series is set for the final night of the weekend at Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, La.) with the 50th annual Louisiana State Championship on Saturday night. The program is headlined by a complete $6,000-to-win / $400-to-start event for the CCSDS contingent.

The tire rule for the event is a Hoosier 1350 on all four corners with a Hoosier 1600 white-dot and LM40 right rear option.

Saturday’s action includes LED 4 Life Limited Mods ($1,000-to-win), Granger Equipment Factory Stocks ($1,000-to-win), and Front Wheel Drives ($300-to-win).

On Saturday, September 24 the pits open 4:00 p.m. with grandstands at 5:30 p.m. Racing action is slated for 7:00 p.m.
